“Run Tampa is a big, happy 450-member family, and I kinda feel like the mom.”

As much as I love running and coaching, I love people even more. So, it’s no surprise that when I decided to move on from teaching high school students, I decide to wed my love of teaching to my love of running.

Then I started the Mojo for Running Podcast, and later, the Beginner Runner Village Podcast.

The Run Tampa Club wasn’t really planned. It was more a happy accident. As a trail runner, I discovered many people weren’t comfortable going into the wilderness alone. So, I started organizing group runs. In the ensuing years, we’ve moved away from trail running, but it still has a warm spot in my heart.

As numbers grew, it was only natural to form a club and Run Tampa was born.

In 2017, I teamed up with Director Liz Vassey to make a documentary film about running, The Human Race documentary, which features Run Tampa members along with running icon Kathrine Switzer, available on Amazon and YouTube.

The highlight of my running career - so far - was qualifying for the Boston Marathon and running it at the age of 65, which proves the premise of the film, that any age is the right age to run and to continue to achieve new fitness goals.
